More Back to School Storage

With only a few more days of the school holidays left, you may be looking forward to the peace and quiet of your children going back to school. However due to the recent awful weather over the summer, you may have gained a lot of extra items over the school holidays in an endeavour to entertain your children. Do you now have more art supplies, books, DVDs, board games and more than at the start of the holidays?

Well why not have a sort out and put some of your children’s item into storage until the next school holidays. This will not only clear some much needed space in your home for school books and supplies but will also help to rotate some of the items your children use to occupy themselves. When the next holidays come round, simply get the items out of storage again and your children will be thrilled to play with them all again after the break.

At Cube Self Storage, we offer a range of storage options to accommodate both large and small items – to find out more please contact us.

Packing Artwork for Self Storage

At Cube Self Storage, we can store virtually anything for our clients. Some people choose to store their out of season clothing, others store their bikes and accessories and some choose to store their artwork with us. With this in mind, we thought we’d share our top tips for packing your artwork for either short or long term storage

Tip #1 - Frame it or roll it.
When it comes to keeping artwork done on canvases or paper safe during storage, there are two preferred methods. The first is to frame the canvas which will ensure it stays tight across the frame to avoid creasing whilst the frame itself will help to protect the painting, especially if it is behind glass. For pieces of artwork not framed, roll it loosely to prevent tears and creases for occurring.

Tip #2 - Corner guards
If the artwork is framed, then use cardboard corner guards to protect the corners. It is usually corners of frames which will get knocked during transit and storage so by using corner guards you will be protecting both the frame and the artwork itself from damage.

Tip #3 - Packing Materials
When it comes to packing your piece of artwork, avoid both bubblewrap and packing peanuts. Due to the chemicals used to produce Bubblewrap, staining can occur on your artwork whilst it can also trap moisture against the piece and cause either water damage or mould to grow. Packing peanuts should be avoided as the polystyrene is extremely static when the peanuts are broken and these minute fragments may cause damage to the piece.

Tip #4 – Climate controlled storage
To avoid damage to your artwork by the air surrounding it, consider climate controlled storage. Our purpose built climate controlled storage facility allows us to constantly monitor both the temperature and the humidity of the air to ensure your artwork is kept in the best possible conditions.

If you would like any further advice on how to pack artwork or anything else for self storage, or would like to know more about our storage facility, please contact us.

Planning a Summer Office Relocation?

The summer is one of the most popular times for a business to move offices for three main reasons:
  • The move will not be affected by adverse weather conditions
  • There are longer day light hours so moves can take place more effectively
  • Workloads are often already reduced due to staff holidays
At Edward Baden, we understand that at any time of year, office relocations can be both stressful and time consuming so our relocation services have been designed to try the reduce both of these factors for you. We also understand that the weather in Hong Kong in Summer can be a bit more adverse and humid, but that should not stop you from your planned summer office relocation.
Whether you are moving to another town, county or country, we have a range of specialist services that can help you – plus you’ll even be given your own move co-ordinator who will manage the whole process for you.
Our services include everything from the planning of your move to the physical move itself, as well as installation of all your furniture and IT equipment in your new location too. All of our services are tailored to your specific needs and we can accommodate almost anything from a tonne of files to a short move timeframe.

Our Climate Controlled Facilities

At Cube Self Storage, we provide an efficient climate controlled storage facility that makes it perfect for tropical weather conditions. Whether you are an art exhibitors or buyers, you may need a specialist storage solution before and after the fair. Our storage facility not only maintains the specific temperature requirement for your precious art, but is also safe and secure. Are You New to Self Storage?

New to self storage? How to make the most of it? First of all, choose a room size to suit your needs; we are happy to give you advice if you wish. Before visiting your room, make a list of your items and label them for easy identification. If it’s possible, insure everything valuable. Leave a walkway from the door to the back of your room, if you go for a large one. For delicate items, cover them with protective sheets to avoid dust.
